The Gaggenau story began with the powerful aristocrat Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden on the edge of the Black Forest in Germany, back in 1683. Von Baden crafted a hammer and nail forge, which saw the creation of Gaggenau, a brand that has truly stood the test of time. The powerful ties to heritage enables the continual creation of the exceptional, in every single appliance crafted and the overall Gaggenau experience that comes with them.

The Importance of Perfect Wine Storage
When considering the key elements of an exclusive culinary culture and sophisticated lifestyle, fine wine plays an integral role, and with good reason. Evoking an emotional experience, wine is one of the few commodities that increases in value with age, while also improving in flavour. However, if not stored with care, thoughtfully curated vintages can rapidly deteriorate.
For those who appreciate wine and take great pride in housing a bespoke collection, consideration on how wine should be stored, protected, showcased and prepared for enjoyment is key. A specialty wine climate cabinet is crucial to protect the wines and can be built into the kitchen, becoming a show stopping focal point of the entertaining space and functioning the same way a traditional wine cellar would.
Serious wine aficionados are passionate about protecting and storing their wines, so when choosing a wine climate cabinet, it helps to understand the factors that can impact a wine’s condition. The three most important elements that influence the condition of wine include light, humidity and most importantly, temperature. Stability in these areas will make all the difference to the value of wines in years to come, not to mention the flavour. Generally speaking, a wine has much greater potential to develop complexity and a more aromatic bouquet if allowed to age slowly in a stable and cool environment.
The Gaggenau Vario Cooling 400 Series Wine Climate Cabinets offer space for up to 99 bottles and feature up to three independent climate zones controlled via the intuitive TFT touch display, while humidity is also maintained at a specific setting. By having multiple, independently controlled climate zones, champagne, white wine or red wine can be stored within different areas of the wine climate cabinet, chilled to just the right temperature. The electronic control system ensures constant temperatures of 5°C to 20°C, which can be set to the exact degree, replicating a long-term cellar environment. Aromas and vibrations, which can harm wine, are minimised by a low vibration motor and activated charcoal air filter.
These wine climate cabinets offer a choice of pull-to-open or handleless push-to-open function, as well as finishes with glass doors framed in either the kitchen’s furniture material or in stainless steel. As part of the fully integrated, built-in modular Vario Cooling 400 Series landscape, these wine climate cabinets can be combined to great effect, to create a truly grand architectural statement.
